Paranormal Activity

My city was fortunate enough to have a theater playing "Paranormal Activity". I'm a little on the fence about this one. Some people say it is the scariest movie they have ever seen and they couldn't sleep that night while others felt cheated out of $10 dollars. This is the type of movie you go see for the experience of seeing it in a crowded theater. It may not scare you, but the nervous feet shuffling, breath holding, and occasional blood curdling scream from the audience will definitely get your heartbeat to race and send chills down your spine.

The filmmakers took "Blair Witch Project", added an "Exorcist" theme, and removed the nauseating camera movements that are present in most of these "real footage" movies. The best parts are during when the camera is set up on a tripod filming the bedroom at night. The movie does a great job of making you look around the screen for where the monster may pop out, but instead it will only give you a slight shadow, a door movement, etc. They do a great job of slowly increasing intensity each proceeding night, but this leaves you a little bored during the daytime scenes because you just want it to be night time again. I recommend this movie to anyone. It would be a good date movie that will make your significant other sleep a little closer to you that night.
